When they choose to stand in the shade, its too hot to ride.

LOL not necissarily true.., for whatever reason, Pepsi, Feather, and Buddy will prefer to stand in the sun on days when it's 110 in the shade alone...

Personally, I prefer not to RIDE when it's hot enough that the weather drains you. That means that if it's making a little puny human over-heat, then a big strong horse with hundreds of pounds of body to be hot, is likely uncomfortable being asked to work. If I could choose, I would ride in no worse than 95 degrees... but it does not happen that way, as my riding days are not my choice, me still being an apprentice and all.

My rule of thumb is that if it feels too hot for me, then it's too hot for my horse. When I do go riding on hot days, I go early in the morning or late in the evening, and I will hose him down first. And I keep the workout light.

Anything over 30c is hot!
