Question When a foal passes on

When a foal is stillborn or passes soon after death...do you have to send in a report to the registry? or anything? I mean the stallion has reported a successful breeding already...

Are you just looking for information or did something happen?

No.

Besides, just because a stallion report was submitted doesn't mean that a foal WILL be born.

Our stud bred our two mares last yr which both were listed, but only one of them had a viable foal. The other mare slipped around 5 ms.

For the Jockey Club you do submit a report stating that you had a dead foal.

Haven't heard of this being done in other registries though.

If your horse says no, you either asked the wrong question...or asked the question wrong.

For Selle Francais, you must submit a breeding/covering report, then when the foal is born, you submit the live foal/no foal, then they will send all the registration info (markings, form for pasport, ext....) so, no, when your mare was bred, (of course I have only dealt with Selle Francais) you should have recieved something like a Live foal/No foal report. What breed is the mare? And I am glad everything is well

I've got to remember there are many breed associations and not all of them are the same.

Actually, thinking about it, it would be a good idea for any registry to have a "no foal" report. It would keep someone from trying to register a different foal under that breeding report info.
