![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What's your take on this cross? (pictures)
I spent 2 months training this lovely purebred Arabian stallion in the summer and in return recieved a generous offer of breeding my 1/2 arabian mare to him. He stands about 15.1HH and is quite stocky - reining bred. His mind and trainability is TO DIE FOR, and comformationally he's quite nice. The comformation photo of him is unfortunatly 3 years old, and he has filled out since. I worked on the farm where he lives and also trained many of his offspring. My mare is a 15HH Arabian/Quarter Horse mare, a little more refined in the bone with lovely movement and reasonably comformationally correct. Ebony El Bandar (stallion) ![]() ![]() ( more recent above and below ) ![]() (Photo at 5, now going on 7) ![]() My mare, Sheeza Babydoll ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My question is more so regarding the outcome of the foal, and so on. I have my own reasons for breeding and it is legitimate, I am not just contributing to the over population of unloved horses. |

I've never thought about a reining bred arabian. But wow. Gorgeous! Sorry. I can't really help you with your question. Just taking up space.

Wow. Your mare looks more Warmblood to me. What do you do with her? What are her talents?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | lol no problem! yup, he's working bred - he works cows, and he's got hopes for reining on the Arab circuit. He hasn't shown terribly extensively, just 2 seasons but I started to prepare him for sliding stops and spins before I left to come home back to BC.

Here's a picture of him from the past summer - as you can see he's filled out substantially. |

I prefer more refinement in an Arabian (specifically in the head) but he's definitely well built. Looks like he could hold his own well in the reining classes for sure. I'm kind of eh, about his croup, but she seems to have a nicer angle to hers so it just may work out fine. I'd wager he'll do great in the show ring.

Everyone says that when they first see her, she's deffinatly a gorgous mare, not bad for $1,200! I bought her going walk and lightly trot under saddle as a 5 year old. She's now turned 7 and im preparing her for jumpers. I intended her as a dressage star, but her hearts not in it as much as mine is - she LOVES to jump as you can see in the photo of her free jumping 4'3 with ease. The woman I purchased her from had plans for her being an "all arounder/Western Pleasure" mount, and that's still partially the plan, but she'll deffinatly be specializing in Jumping providing she loves it as much under saddle as she does when she's free jumping, haha.

Hmmm. So jumping dam and reining sire. What would you be hoping to do with the foal?

Deffinatly all-around. I showed extensively in my younger years, but now i'm more into the breeding/training/coaching and selling aspect of horses and i'm in the process of building my name to one day create a business. I wouldn't really say neither the sire nor dam specifically is/are a Jumper and Reiner. Casey (stud) works cows, goes western pleasure, english pleasure, etc, and so does the mare.. they're basically all-arounders, difference being I hope to do more Jumping with Babydoll and Caseys owners intend for him to do a little more Reining than anything else. Although I intend the foal to be 'all around', jumping, dressage and reining as well as WP are my passions under saddle.
