| Senior Member+ | What's the best time of day to work a "hot" horse?
Are hot horses generally easier to handle (have less energy) at a certain time of the day? in the AM before breakfast, after breakfast, late in the afternoon, late at night, etc? I've decided part of Regal's problem is feed and time stalled- which I'm working on- but in the meantime the last thing I want to do is NOT work him- (even though he feels like more than I can handle when he's this hot). Any advice?

hmmm, my guy's pretty lazy (for an arab) around 6....he's done his supper by then is just doozing in his stall for the evening. Sometimes really early in the mornings, but only after he's let out with his buds for at least 5 minutes (LOL, i know..but he has a tantrum if hes left behind).

Horses are usually more energetic when it's cooler and a bit more on the lazy side when they're in hotter weather

Yeah, I'd say work them in the evening after they've had dinner, but as you may very well know, you shouldn't work them too soon after their dinner or it could cause digestive problems...

Probably mid day (when it's hottest) would be the best time if you don't want him to be so "hot" (obviously not literally

My Boyfriend Has Been training horses and he tells me that they act better around mid day when it is warm outside... He never works with them after he feeds them because they get toooooo hiper! He always feeds them around a half an hour after he works with them. He said that they usually act up more when it is cooler outside... like mornings and late evenings.
