| Senior Member | What would you work on with him?
What aspects would you work on with him? I have been thinking of completley starting over with him, to gain more respect, and gain an overall better horse, which he is comming along, but he needs to learn ALOT! Here he is when I first bought him: And Now: Sorry they're so big!! The reason my reins were like that, to try to get contact while lunging, and I am wondering about maybe getting sidereins while lunging, so I was testing lol. ![]() ![]() [trying to show his neck] ![]() ![]() ![]()

He's really, really pretty. His face is so handsome, and he just looks really smart and kind =) It depends on what you plan on doing with him? And how old is he?

With a little more training, he will be good at either of those I ride hunters, and I've helped train and ride many greenies, so i've picked up a few tricks along the way, lol. For dressage and hunters, he is going to need more of a topline. If he's 7 years old, then he is strong enough to carry himself correctly. Here's a few tips =] 1) When you're riding him, make sure he is plenty forward, lift your hands, and use some half halts. Also he has to be bending the correct way. (Try it at a walk before trotting/cantering) 2) If you lunge him in side reins, don't crank them down very tightly. that will only frustrate him and make his neck muscles sore. Make them loose as first, and see if he can pick up the idea by himself. If not, tighten them a little until they're at the correct length where they aren't "holding" him in a frame, just reminding him to stay there. 3) Do some hill work. Going up and down hills [especially up] makes them use their neck and back muscles. If you ride a horse up a hill and let their head go, you'll notice that they naturally round over in a frame to carry themselves up the hill because it's easier. This will make him stronger without "forcing" him to do anything Sorry for that blast of tips... haha I got carried away Hope I was some help! Make sure to tell me if any of the above worked for you guys. Good luck!
