If your local animal control is of no use, call other rescue groups, call the Dept of Ag for your state, keep calling around until someone does something. Like someone else said, keep out of the middle. It's a tough situation for her to be in, but imo it sounds like she doesn't really want a way out.

Animal control still should regulate the FEEDING of animals. Water alone is not enough...

New update oh it just sickens me so much. The mare that is one I offered to buy acted like it was collicing. I work across the street from these horses as well. So any way I look over there and see this mare down rolling around violently, biting at her sides sweating etc. So I go over to check her out and called her owner at work to inform her. Her suggestion was she was at work so for me to get her up and walk hertill she can get there, but she can't leave work early Duh I am at work too! So as much as I hated it I got the horse to a standing position, but didn't walk her (not my responsibility As I have tried so hard to help already.)I went back to work then as I was leaving for lunch I noticed her out there with the mare and she waves me over. and OMG the mare who is 4 has an extremely large milk sack and seems to be having a foal. how horrible is this!! You know I just can't figure it out Here I have my mare that I bought in poor condition who was pregnant and I take all the proper steps to have her cared for and I lose the baby a month before its due then you have these complete idiots who don't deserve the ones they have , none of them have been vaccinated, dewormed or anything and now her mare is going to foal. no doubt probably a nice big healthy foal. I wonder why it's the people who are so undeserving who end up with the things that good caring people get passed up on? Sorry to vent just isn't fair. All I did was say good luck and walked away.

Hey everyone I have great news. AC actually got off their a** and made a move!!! They were told that they have two weeks to have their stuff in order and must provide feed, hay,and deworming receipts plus they have to have a vet come out to evealuate the horses. If they don't comply with all of that within the two weeks they lose the horses. And it's written out in contract type form they she and her husband had to sign!! I have prayed so hard for the Lord to let something happen rather it was have them open their eyes to what they are doing, or someone else step in. All it took was several of us neighbors making a few calls and threatening our AC with media coverage for them to get their heads out of their a**es. Thank you all for your support it really means alot to have other horse owners and lovers behind you!! Hugs to all!

thats great! You just have to look at it this way.. if she was really your friend she wouldnt have kept begging you for help and to feed even though she was capable (and even WILLING) to sell the horses. Its one thing if a person really loves their animal and just dont want to let go, I know lots of organizations that are willing to step in and help at that point when someone hits a hard time. But she was willing to sell these horses just not at the prices she was offered, which is selfish.

If it had been her asking for help to feed during a short time of financial torubles, or help because she was having problems selling (as in she had no offers, because the market is so bad now) then yes as a friend its not selfish of them to ask for help in situations like that. But when it comes down to her guilt tripping you, thats when you know your friendship is not as valuable to her as hers is to you. I try to be an overall friendly person and anyone who I do consider a friend I am more than willing to help out.. but too many times I got stuck in positions where they put me through hard times and I finally just learned to ask myself "If they were really my friend, would they ask this of me?" and if I can say yes I help them and if I cant then I still try and help but I wont bend over backwards and do what they ask.

I am glad the horses are getting help, its a great thing to hear

No I have been watching every litle bit but she is standing there at her round bale of rotted moldy fescue hay munching away. but then again I guess if I hadn't eaten in weeks I wouldn't be too choosy either.I actually did sneak back out and put sme yummy hay in front of her and then I got a call from this girl asking if I was the out?Lord forgive me for lying but I said no that the AC truck had ben over there and they put it out. I hope it scared her she seemed to get frustrated but oh well I am done helping!!! (at least as far as she knows) lol

Okay here is my concern for you... you cannot afford to help because if for any reason the mare dies in the next few weeks you will get tagged. It will be your feed or hay that killed her regardless and you will have been trespassing without permission to feed it. Sorry I know that is not what you want to hear but I have a friend that has been there done that and gotten sued for the horse that died.
