| Senior Member | What to show in???? AH, help
OKAY... So Im determined to take my horse to a show. Basically just for the experience (hes never been to a show). Right now we are just w/t/c and small crossrails. But by the time the show days come around (there are a bunch from this month all the way till next summer) Im hoping to be ready for one around December or January. ANyways, by the time those shows come around my horse should be up to par for 2'3". Anyways, my trainer wants me to take him to a show sooner. She says I can do baby hunters??? First of all Im 18. Im not sure if thats still considered child or not. Im not sure what baby hunters is??? I THINK its just a w/t/c and Xrails course, but im not sure if its for children or not??? IF anyone can help on what classes I should go into, that be fantastic!!! Here is the class list http://www.heritagehorseshow.com/HIP...5E1A8820B1.pdf |

baby hunter means xrails...i would do w/t and w/t/c eq and pleasure classes - cant load the link, but go into a few classes - dont overdo it! and dont lose confidence over one bad round, or class, or trot, or anything!!!! and no, being 18 means you cant do amateur classes (depending on the show - check the rules) or juinor classes (again, check the rules). remember that you never get a second chance at your first show HAVE FUN!!!!!!!

oh... its not MY first show... Its my first show on MY horse and its HIS first show, period. Anyways... thats what i thought about the 18 thing. for some reason i thought 18 was still included in child. ok wrong. Anyways... i didnt think that i couldnt do amatuer classes? BUT for my horses sake. What classes would you suggest? Can I still do baby hunters with him, regardless of MY age? I havnt really talked about what classes with my trainer n all. Guess I should. But for now, opinions are greatly welcome. My horse isnt even meant for hunters, but its the only english shows here for a while. I should probably START in Hunters anyway??? Wow, im really confused. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Junior Riders (JR) is under 18. Adult Amatur (AA) is 18 and over. Open is anyone (hence 'open' lol). Trainers are supposed to ride in open because they are no longer considered 'amaturs'. At least thats the way it is around here. Most classes are open to any age unless it is noted. Most hunter shows have a few classes separated by age (usually 13 and under, 14 - 17, and 18 and over) and a few separated for ponies. |
