Lightbulb What to bathe with?

Ok, I was supposed to bathe my horses yesterday, but it poured. So I guess I will be bathing them this weekend. The Belgian of course will be the hardest because she is light with white socks and her big blaze. What is a good product for getting mud and blood stains off of a light-colored horse? She is kinda ticklish on the inside of her back legs and around her hips, so I need a product that can soak that stuff out without me actually have to spend a lot of time brushing it in. I know there are many products out there, just thought you guys might be able to tell me which ones do a better job. She doesn't have to be "show" clean, just clean.

I'm sure that others will give you the names of some awesome products to use, so I'll just tell you my favorite. We have always used Biolage (by Matrix) products on the horses. For years this is the only shampoo and conditioner we've ever used on them. I found the horse brands to be too harsh and don't condition as well. They leave the hair more "straw" like instead of silk and smooth like Biolage does.

You can work the shampoo into a rich lather with your finger tips - you don't need to use a curry if the horse is sensitive to it. This is the method we use on our Thoroughbreds and have had very good luck.

Of all the whitening and stain removing products out there, we have found plain and simple Biolage products to be the best.

Blood stains???

Blood stains-from where the horseflies get her. She is nearbout covered. Nothing seems to work very long on her. I put Garstar on her Saturday, but it rained Sunday, so I am sure she has no protection now. I ran out of Gardstar, so we are going to get the Eucalyptus oil and the vinegar today for the Skin-so-soft mixture. I am going to make a list today of everyone's reply and see which ones I can find.

Wow Jumpers I am jealous! I dont even buy Biolage for myself! You must get it cheap somewhere!!??

I have used a lot of different shampoos and conditioners trying to find the best, and my favorites are Cowboy Magic, and Orvus (sp? might be Orvis). They both get the horse really clean and soft. For white areas I use a purple shampoo if there are stains, they work great. Recently I have been using a shampoo by Rio Vista. It is a color enhancing shampoo. I body clipped my bay for the winter and he looked like a buckskin, so I bought the color enhancing to see if it would help. Didnt really make him a lot darker, but it sure brought out the shine. The Orvus comes in a big jar like container and is pretty inexpensive to use. Rinses well too. Good luck in finding one you like!

We also use salon shampoo and conditioner on our horses, works great. Shimmer Lights is a great shampoo for getting white looking sparkling! Never had a stain yet it couldn't make beautiful!

I know this may sound strange but for the white areas I have always found mayo works great and it is cheaper than most of the whitening and brightening shampoos.

I, too, love Cowboy Magic, I have no issues with drying out and it leaves hair silky smooth. I also have used Tresseme conditioner in a pinch when I ran out of CM. Biolage?? Holy Cow, talk about being horse poor if I used that on mine!!!
