Here in the States (where I am anyway) it is totally differant, you rarely see horse trucks like you have there here at all. They are very nice tho!

I LOVE it! They are really popular here too, but quite expensive.

We bought it because one of my horses is a REALLY bad scrambler...doesn't matter what float he was in, or how slow we drove, he would scramble and go down in the float.

Even he doesn't scramble in this float!

The company advertises that if your horse scrambles, they'll give you your money back. At a comp once, I saw scrape marks up the side of a JR float and was shocked...but when I saw the lady drive away, I knew why the poor horse had been scrambling...no horse can NOT scramble with a driver like that!

Great to tow as well, you forget you have the float on sometimes!

Noiser to ride in than I would've expected...but thats the only thing I can fault about it. I honestly don't think i'll ever get another brand of float again...and I won't allow my horses to ride in any other float, I trust this one too much...so if we are car pooling with someone, I always use my own float.

Hmm, wonder if I will be able to pick up a second hand one at a reasonable kind of price.

Here is my baby. Open top, 20+ years old, home made one that I managed to pay next to nothing for. It does the job and we put a tarp over it to camp in at the shows. And I managed to reverse it into that space when it was full of hay I didn,t want getting wet. So proud of myself.

MZ that's not true at all! HEAPS of people have floats. It is only those who travel more with several horses, or who want somewhere to stay (in the truck) over night, that invest in trucks.

I dunno what competitions you've been going to but I would estimate it to be the other way around - 75% floats and 25% trucks. The only time you see heaps of trucks, in my experience, is at horse trials, where people travel across the country and/or event several horses. Even at HOY there were many, many floats. Trucks are expensive to buy and expensive to run, so I'm not surprised

All I know is that it's 28 feet long, hauls 4 horses, has a tack room AND living quarters (two separate areas) and is a ****** to turn. Talk about wide swings. I think it's an old Sooner? I dunno. I'll check with dad.
