To be 100% honest, in all my showing and what not, I have never wondered if my horses mane was falling to the right side? I have never thought about it. I guess in eventing they dont care, my horses manes are so short in eventing that they basically stand up like a mowhawk! haha

It depends weather you are riding Western or English. Western it goes on the left, and english on the right. I am not sure however what the rules are for stallions. But I know that it doesn't matter with mares and geldings. (at least I haven't heard that it does)
