This is very true and an Arabians mane is never to fall to the left. There is, however, a REAL reason for this. When showing an arabian in halter the side that mostly faces the judge is the left side. If the mane were on that side it would interfere with the view of the judges, and his/her ability to see the shapely neck that the arabians are so known for. This only holds true for halter, it does not matter under saddle.

You know the funny thing, if the judge has to be pickey about the side the mane falls for your class Lou, they need to go back to judging. I am sure he/she could have found SOMETHING between both of you that was better or worse movement wise compared to mane. That is like saying the person has a blue shirt on, blue is my fav color so they are equal but I like the blue shirt for first the red for second

haha i wasnt too upset, the horse that won belonged to me too - i had just lent him to my friend - who was actually a good bit more experienced than me in the hunter ring. Both horses were superb though.

i've heard that the mane is supposed to go on the right, but i'm not completely positive. my mare's is on the left, but then my older mare's is on the right, and my dad's mare's is split like 4 times as it goes down her neck. i say, who cares...

I've always heard that if you are showing that it's best to go on the off(horse's right side) but otherwise it doesn't matter.
