Honestly I have never really seen it make a difference.

Understand about roping horses and that is prob where it came from.... I have had show horses with mane on right side and on left side.... I won equally with both, when it comes down to it, mane doesn't make a difference unless there were 2 equal horses (conformation wise, movement, basically 2 identical horses) then the mane MIGHT matter!!!

Here it is important in hunters that the mane fall on the off side. It is like an unspoken rule!!! I learned that when I was a groom for the "A" circuit shows.

but that can be difficult if your horses natuarally falls the other way

Hey QHgirl,

That is the point I was trying to make about a horse being ambidexterous. I can't see where it would make one hoot of difference.

OK, well at least in Pleasure and most OTHER classes the mane doesn't matter what side, just as long as it is nice looking!

AND if you go by old times, it should be on Left side because that is the side you get up on your horse AND what you grab to pull yourself up on... (back in those times)

I have a mustang and his brand is on the left so i put his mane on the right. i dont think it should matter but i guess it depends on what your doing.

Too me it doesn't really matter.... Aslong as it doesn't fall on both sides I'm ok. I don't like the way it looks. lol

What do you do with a mane that parts down the middle. I keep combing it to the right, and when I turn around it's parted in the middle again.
