Post What kind of trailer do you have?

I really like the sundowner trailers but i want to know what else is out there. Lol. We are just looking for a two horse trailer. It doesnt need a dressing/tack room(whatever you call it) and either slant or straight, ramp or step up..i dont care.

so, my questions are:
What kind of trailer do you have?
Would you recommend that brand to someone else?

Thanks!

sundowners are expensive!! eek!
I have a 2 horse angle haul logan coach...with drop down feed doors and walk-in tack. Nice trailers if you don't want to spend $50k..they're pretty heavy duty.

Oh you are so lucky having such nice trailers out there in the states

We have a few 'Sooner' Type trailers come to the bigger shows in the UK, they look stunning .. but must be hard getting down some of the country lanes we have.

I hunted high and low for a trailer with living, choice is very limited over here. I have an Equitrec (sp) now ... looks a bit like this:

Our Trailer

The are rather different as it has a side ramp and the horses (two or them) travel facing the rear. I wouldn't have one without living now .. well I would miss the fridge on a hot show day LOL

Thumbs up

Here is a website with lots of interesting articles about hauling horse trailers. The page is titled: Important Information on Traveling with Horses.
The articles range from selecting a trailer and safety, to making sure you really have the correct size hitch and towing vehicle.
I know it is a traler manufactors website, but the articles are objective and not in the least self promoting. It is more of a "Public Service" sort of page!
I hope lots of you will check the site out and find one or more of the articles informative, helpful and share it with others! wink

I have a 2 horse straight load bumper pull Trail Magic trailer. Bought it used and love it. Always thought my next trailer would be a slant load but I listened to a seasoned traveler who said the first positive thing about the straight loads in terms of long distance hauling. He maintains that he prefers straight load trailers with butt bars and of course something up front for the chest. Says that this gives them better balance abilities than does the slant load and has had a horse in a slant load actually wear a mat on one side from leaning so much to one side while trying to balance. After that, he went back to straight load. I suppose if you aren't hauling long distances it wouldn't matter so much, but it this sure isn't mentioned by trailer manufacturers who try and promote the slants. I thnk the rage about the slant is that it is easier to get your horse in them, where as if you teach your horse to obey you, a straight load is no problem.

I want a WW Stock trailer (only one my horse likes).

They are inexpensive and do hold up over the years. My friend has had hers for over 10 years, and replaces only the floor when needed. They also make 2 horse trailers and other sized trailers. My favorite is the cost.

Right now I have a back-yard rebuilt trailer, 2 horse side by side. Really need a slant or stock for my horse, he HATES the straight standing.

I have a 2 horse trailer, bumper pull, step up,side by side.I havent used it yet,but I like it.It has a bar dividing the middle,a front feed space,a side window,a lower tack compartment.I think its a Hale, maybe.it was made in 1976 but is still in good shape. We just got done redoing it,painting, body work. It's sturdy, just hope my horses will go in it,it may seem too small for them.lol
