My kids dont and I get heat from some people about that. But, hey, I grew up without one. And everyone know has grown up without without wearing one too just about.

I do make them wear them when doing more than just working horses in arena though.

Well my kids are 7, 5 & 3. There just now getting their helmets, and I have been chewed on by my mom for putting if off as long as I did. I think they need to wear them any time there on a horse. They think there cool, so Im gonna keep it that way. As many times I fell off when I was a kid Im suprised Im still alive!!! When they get a little older and more experienced they might not have to wear one in the show ring but everywhere else is a must. I don't think I could live with myself if something did happen. So why take that risk??

I have a Troxel Legacy Gold. I really like it, in fact a like it so much that I just bought a helmet cover to use in the ring b/c I didn't want to get another one.
It's so light and breathable, I love it for those hot cross-country days!

Well, COs are safe...I mean, they did make the safety warning, but compared to GPAs which are practically bullet proof, they just aren't the 'safest'. I did the exact opposite as you- the GPA just didnt fit me right.

I have a dark blue Tipperary Sportage - LOVE it!! It's so comfy and light. My only complaint is that I can't find any helmet covers to fit over it if I want to use it for shows.
I need to get a new show helmet - I like the really traditional black velvet, but not sure what kind to get. Anybody know what's good for a person with a small head, small face and really short hair? A lot of the newer show helmets make me look like an egg head !!
