What kind of grulla would you label Twister? He's registered as Hollywoods Twister. Father a dun and mother a grulla.

Do you mean what color dun is he? He very well could be grulla, which is dun on black. He MIGHT be regular dun - dun on bay. He could possibly be brown dun.

And that's why I had this question somewhere else. Let me get you the thread. There are shades of grulla that I never knew about until someone else asked.

Bottom line is there is only one color: Grullo also spelled Grulla. There are no officially know colors to define the shades so it is best to not start something that does not mean the same to everyone. Plus grullos will change color tone throughout the year.

Call your horse grullo and leave it at that. :-)

There is NO official registry that accepts different shades of grulla. Either the horse is Grulla or it's not plain and simple.

There is no other official label.

Well I already know that. But according to whoever in that thread, there are silvers (I didn't think there were) and light slate and slate and all other shades. Yes, it is GRULLA but they also said different shades. That is why I didn't start a new thread, and just asked in there. But then the question got moved when I wasn't even that concerned about it and now I have this. I was just curious what whoever would label him as, since they said there are different "shades" and I just figured grulla was grulla. Some dark, some not, just grulla.

People can call a horse what ever shade they THINK it looks at any given time. That does not make it an official term. Just because some one says they have a silver grulla doesn't make it really a silver grulla. Just because some one calls it an olive grulla or a lilac grulla or what ever other color they want to put in front does not make it an official term. In basic genetic terns at the moment All Black plus dun is grulla just plain Grulla nothing else.
