What is the strap in the front called...I can't remember.

I call it a "tie-down". Or are you talking about the breast collar???

Breastcollar is what is going across the horses chest. The strap doing from his head to the girth is the tie down.

in i've always known it to be called a martingale...i guess "tie down" is a western thing, i only ride english.
