I was a local clubber for a while, then we started running AQHA and NBHA/ Ontario Barrel Racing Assoc last year. Now my mom's a district director of NBHA, lol. We're mostly running NBHA this year... I'm running in the OBRA futurity classes and NBHA with my new gelding (one with issues), but the only AQHA shows we're probably running at is Congress (with last year's Jr Polebending champ and my futurity horse... we'll see if she follows in her buddy's footsteps as a polebender).

Going to be a busy year But exciting. The two Supershows should be good (TNT in Hillsburgh, Ont, and BlackGold Barrelnanza in Oil Springs, Ont.). I thought about trucking out west to run in the futurity association out there, but we're just too busy down here.

Ah very cool!! I think our ABRA is just like the NBHA...we have 3 D's though, not sure if the NBHA/OBRA has more than that? I do TBE too and they have 4D's, 6 at the finals! But just 0.5 second splits, where the ABRA has 0.7 second splits at most of their jack pots.

Ah I wish we had more pole bending stuff I could do here. I also ride in a Ropin' and Ridin' club, but it's just like fun shows for practice. They have barrels, poles, goat tying, breakaway roping and team roping. So that's fun! But only one/month from May-August. So only 4/year :P

Goat tying! I would love to do that. I've tried roping... on the ground... and it was just a bucket... oh well. lol

Yeah the NBHA around here uses 4D system with half-second splits. Some other shows use 2D in their regular gaming classes (keyhole, poles, flag), with a full-second split. The futurity I'm running in also does a 2D format with full-second split, I believe.

I like running with the 4D so much better for barrel racing. My main gelding (profile pic) is solid top 5 in keyhole and flag, but he fits perfectly in the 3D in barrels, or the 4D depending on who's there. He's big and leggy, complete opposite from the two I'm running this year. The length of him makes it harder for him to get down and turn. But he was very consistant all year with his barrels, so I was happy enough to hit the 3D with the money.

The tough part is promoting the 4D system! A lot of people "have been doin' it with the top 5 or 10 fastest placing for 40 years".... and don't like the idea of the money being spread around. Even though the money is often better, even in the 3D and 4D. Some others I've heard don't like the idea of 1st in 4D making as much as 4th in the 1D.

But I like it. lol
