I believe (now I'm not for sure on this one, it's just what I've been told) that a penn hooker is a person who'll jump on your trailer and see what you got and buy the horse right there before you get in the ring and then turn around and sell the horse at the sale the same night. And I've also heard that penn hooking is when you sell the horse before it enters the ring. ...the auction house thing won't make any money off of it.

Then again that's just what I've been told so correct me if I'm wrong.

Spur, you heard right!! That is excatly what pen hooking is. If you hang around livestock Auctions, that is what happens alot! Mostly horse traders do it, but I'm sure it's done alot with cattle. Somebody always trying to get the better deal. Especially is it's a nice horse.

An easy way to remember it is selling an animal without going throught he auction house. You can sell it before you run it through the sale however it has to go throught the auction house you can't just sell it to someone. They try to stop it for a couple reason. 1. To make sure the animal is tested. 2. So they get some money out of it too.
