| Senior Member+ | What is this? Mare has strange discharge *pictures*
So, I went out to feed lunch just a minute ago and found this coming out of my mare T. She was bred on May 11, 13, 15. She was checked last Wed (27th) and everything looked great. We think she had twins initially but becuse there were two sacks...one with a definiate embryo in it and then just the sack with just fluid in it. We have been watching it but it appears that if there was a second embryo it asorbed and the sack was still there and would eventually resolve itself. Could it be possible that this is the sack expelling itself? Of course I am worried that it is an infection. No changes in her eating, temperment, vitals, etc. So what do you think it is? I did already call the vet but currious if any of you know what might be going on while I am waiting for him to call me back. The bottom picture is upside down and I can't get it to rotate, sorry (*blepping* computers!). ![]()

Oh and I should mention that she slipped her foal last year sometime after 45 days. She was cultured and the vet said she had an ecoli infection but I had her recultured 2x (by a repo specialist) and she cultured clean with no signs of edema, fluid ect. She did not take the first time she was bred this season but we only got her covered once so we didn't expect her to take. The second time we got good covers on her and she took.

Sorry, not a clue. I'm very interested to hear what the vet says.

I described it to him in the message so he must not think it is that big a deal

I checked her again when I fed this evening and it was all gone. She looked totally normal.
