Let HER decide what she was bred for. Dont make the assumption based on her lines, because EVERY HORSE IS DIFFERENT personality wise, and its your job to help her find what she loves and excels in Try a few different things, and find out what she likes or is good at.

PtHA registered Pintos can NOT be Draft breeding....

[quote][While PtHA accepts animals derived from many different approved breed/registry crosses, it does NOT accept animals with Appaloosa, Draft or Mule breeding and/or characteristics.
HORSE STALLIONS must have both sire and dam registered with PtHA or another approved outcross registry.
PONY/MINIATURE STALLIONS must have at least one parent (sire or dam) registered with a recognized breed association
[Effective 1-1-99]. Mares and Geldings can be registered on their qualifying color alone.
/QUOTE]

Since your spotted mare has no registration you might want to consider Hardship Registration thru the PtHA (Pinto Horse Association). The PtHA has lots of shows and other activities that you & your family might enjoy.
Pinto Horse Association of America

As for what you mare was bred for...honestly, the only person who knows for sure is the person who owned your mare's dam at the time she was bred.
Just guessing, with out seeing the mare move... I would say you mare was bred for: the B/W tobiano color pattern and probably western type events. She might also make a lovely Hunter Under Saddle and Pleasure Driving horse as well.

One more thing...the PtHA divides their horse's (Ponies & Miniatures too) into types:

Quote:
TYPE DESIGNATION: All registered Pinto Horses and Ponies are identified within one of the following four types. Type is determined by the conformation and background of each horse/pony.

The STOCK TYPE Pinto is an animal suitable for (1) western events; (2) Hunter Seat events; and (3) a variety of other events. The Stock Type Pinto should display the conformation associated with Quarter Horse breeding. Generally, double-registered Paints (APHA) will be registered in this division.

The HUNTER TYPE Pinto is an animal suitable for: (1) Hunter Seat Events; (2) western events; and (3) a variety of other events. The Hunter Type Pinto should display the conformation associated with Thoroughbred, approved Warmblood or running Quarter Horse breeding.

The PLEASURE TYPE Pinto is an animal presented in a natural manner and suitable for: (1) general western, English, and driving events; and (2) a variety of other events. The Pleasure Type Pinto should display the conformation associated with Arabian or classic Morgan breeding.

The SADDLE TYPE Pinto is an animal suitable for: (1) general English, western, and driving events; and (2) a variety of other events. The Saddle Type Pinto should display the conformation associated with American Saddlebred, Tennessee Walking or Missouri Foxtrotter breeding.
So, hopefully, now you can understand the saying that goes...Paints can be Pintos but not all Pintos can be Paints....

hmm, thats interesting. We were just wondering about the Paint I ride actually, he has very thick legs and is super stocky, so we were joking around about him being part draft, but i guess its possible that he is! I'll post some pics later..im off to school now..

Thanks, Sandra!
It is just that we went to a rodeo and all of the horses there in the warmup looked like Lucy, only a lot bigger and solid colored! So I was wondering if she was bred for little kid's gaming or roping.....or something. It doesn't really matter, though, but I think that Witzee was thinking about registering her pinto!

Painlover, just remember that performance is not always based on "how a horse looks." Conformation, how the horse moves, it's disposition and attitude have a LOT to do with what a horse can and will good at.
There are horses that are bred and put together to do a certain type of event/job and the horse simply does not care for it and, because of it's attitude, is not good at that job. Then there are horses that you would swear could not even do a particular event/job and the horse has a great attitude...enjoys the event/job...and/or has a strong desire to please it's rider and it excels at that event/job.
That is why you will see a lot of posts here about letting the horse tell/show you what it enjoys doing.
Yes, a horse can have been bred with a certain event/job in mind...but in the end it comes down to your finding what the horse is best at AND enjoys doing that counts! Do that and the both of you will not only succeed and do well...you BOTH will have a great time to boot!!!!

We don't really care that much what she is bred for. We are just wondering what she could be, and if you were the breeders, why would have you bred to get her? Obviously, the owners didn't breed her to get a steeple chaser, lol.
