What is in a Name

OH, I'm bringing this up for various reasons, One I cannot discuss.

What made you name your horse what you did?

be it STAR, BUDDY, ALPO, CRANKY, or just plain DOG FOOD (yes there isa horse with that name).

TWINKLES, or whatever....

Why did you name your horse his Barn name? (NOT registered as those get tricky with the way some name their horses...I want barn names)

Let me give you why My horse is named BLISTER.

When he was a baby, when I acquired him, this is what covered his body in several spots.

NOW, I'm not one to name ANY of my horses or animals COMMON names either. I HATE going to the vet and seeing ten million BUDDIES. When I call, I want the vet to KNOW my animal by name, not my name...>THEIR name.

BLISTER was the only name that FIT him. It took me 2 weeks to officially name him that. BUDDY did not fit his personality, could have called him Pitiful or Lover, but again, these did not fit him.

SPOILED ROTTON is a good name for him, but again, didn't fit. BLISTER is what fit him the most. YES it was due to physical attributes, but so is the name SOCKS, STAR, SNIP, BLAZE and various other "COMMON" names for horses. When I call my animals, THEY KNOW I'm calling them and ONE horse comes, not a whole HERD of STAR, BLAZE, BUDDIES, etc.

I have a cat named KAL-EL, a dog named MAURADING LANCELOT, and have had horses Named Sassy (the most COMMON I've ever been) and Dakota came with his, but Butt head was more his name, or Man killer. LOL

This is my CHOICE to be unique.

wellll.... lets see.... I knew her as a school horse first, and her name was star. By the time i bought her, there was no other name in my mind that suited her! i had always known her as star, and thats all she could ever be! lol (But when her previous owners were naming her they just took star out of her registered name, which is Sonnys Star)

I know its common, but it suits her personality she's such a Star! Esp. to me!

My horses have incredibly stupid, common names, and I hate it.

'Red' is Red because he's a very REDDISH sorrel...that's been his name forever

'Sunny' is Sunny because her registered name is Nemesis Sunshine, and so they started calling her Sunny, and I can't change it because she knows her name like a dog does.

They aren't stupid names, that wasnt' the point. Just to me, I'm not one to name animals "common" names, unless it REALLY fits...like Pepper......

...that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Sorry, couldn't help it. Um let's see...
*Kennicke got his name by his attitude and coincidence. The day he arrived here I tried to touch him and he tried to kick the living shiz out of me. However, if I yelled at him, he would cower and act cute. After I had worked with him, I went into the house and watched "Grease." Well, the character fit him perfectly: cute but sensitive.
*Echo was named for the song by Trapt.
*Halo was named after the popular video game. I figured every guy should be gaga over her as well.

I named Dodger "Dodger", because well...it suited him! LOL! I bought him off my aunt and uncle, who for some crazy reason called him "Blackie" (he's a sorrel) LOL!! And that totally did NOT suit him. His reg'd name is "Heroic Rerun", and what the heck kind of name can you get out of that? My friend's grandfather's name is Dodger (yes, his first name!) and I thought it sounded cool and suited my horse. So I stole it. LOL!!!

I got several horses, but I will share three of them though.

Forrest, his register name is Forrest Gump. Have you ever seen that movie..? Forrest reminds me of that MAN who plays in the movie. VERY similar goofy personailty. He look like Forrest too..LOL
He have two stall name. One of them is Run Forrest Run, and the other is Forrest. Funnest horse to ride.

My other gelding is name General Lee, call him General short, register name is Dangerous Liason. General Lee is from the civil war. General reminds me of him, serious, smart, powerful, quick.

My mare is name Honey, because she is a color of Honey and is real sweet like a Honey.
