Thought about this in chat last night, but no conclusion. I was always told QH/Paint but I don't know. Want to see what you all think. His legs are very thick, don't think the pics give them justice. Conformation critique is perfectly welcome, but be aware that he's standing on slightly unlevel ground (bum is on downhill). ![]() |

To me he kind of looks like he may have a little Draft in him... or maybe I'm just seeing things, LOL.

Our big T Bone is a registered Paint, but he is built very big boned and stocky giving him the appearance of having some draft blood. Paint is a color breed, at least the last time I checked. With all the ruling changes coming about these days, I'm not sure how they classify the registry any more. We always joke that a Paint is just a Quarter Horse with too much white. So yes, he looks to me to have some draft blood in him, but who knows. |

Maybe down the line somewhere, and then could he be stumpy but still thick? LOL

He has a thick body and head as well, he looks plump in most pics, but in reality he is just right. Can feel but not see ribs.

To me, just looking at his head, I would never have said that that was the head of a 14.3 horse. It just looks much longer and given that I would say that there was some draft somewhere. In terms of him being short to have draft blood, a study (I think it was British???) showed that in a draft cross, the babies tend to be larger when the draft is the dam and the sire is the cross portion, rather than vice versa -- and the height difference was significant. So I would think that the draft blood, if it is in there, comes from the sire's side of the line ... And I agree with what someone else said, in this day and age, you've gotta love sturdy legs and hooves! |

I am very glad about it. I love him so much. If he wasn't thick, I couldn't ride him. No way he could pack my butt around. |
