What happens when you have a pearl cross...

Mighty Ambitious X Exclusively Connected = Ambitious Blonde
Click here for foal photos..... go to get of Mighty Ambitious...

So why do I bring this up... because I was frustrated... I went to the ad thinking I was going to find a champagne horses... but no it is a pearl... or possibly double pearl... not a champagne at all with no possible chance of it since the sire and dam both do not have the genes.

I'm not 100% sure what you are asking Mary? I doubt "pearl" is a regiserable color in APHA's book, and while champagne and cream dilute colors work in no way like pearl, what would you like them to be registered as?

That's annoying. Kind of like when people have their palominos listed as "carrying the cremello gene". LOL

It also frustrates me that the sires name is spelled wrong on his "get" link. They have it as "Mighty Ambitius" LOL

When you say pearl do you min perlino? this is a colour caused by 2 creme genes acting on a bay coat. If you breed a perlino to a chestnut you have a 58.34% chance of getting a buckskin, a 33.33% chance of getting a palomino and a 8.33% chance of gettinga smokey black. If you breed a perlino to a bay you have a 87.89% of getting a buckskin, 6.25% chance of getting a palomino and a 5.86% chance of getting a smokey black. This is of course all calculated without knowing factors such as heterzygous black or not etc.

As for the champagne gene i have yet to come accross it in the paint breed. It's more common in tennessee walking horses and quarter horses. of course this doesn't mean it doesn't excist in paint horses.

It is something relatively new and not commonly known to most Aussies. I'd love to get my hands on a Pearl horse

It makes me wonder how many more colour affecting genes that haven't been mapped/discovered yet

2 cremes on a bay is a Perlino, different from Pearl.

Pearl is very different. It acts by not acting on a non-dilute horse (unless present in double form), but also by acting on a single-dilute horse by making it look like the equivalent double dilute. This means it turns a bucksking into a "Perlino", a palomino into a "cremello" and a smokey black into a "smokey cream". The horse isn't really that double-dilute color, as there is still only a single creme gene present. I think Pearl has no visible effect on a double-dilute color though.
