I have heard of horses with cushings disease, but to be completely honest I'm not sure what it is, I know this one ladys pony had it and his coat wasn't shedding.... but idk... i need more info on what it is, and how she can be tested for it... thanks!

My thought on saying no sweet feed, was only b/c to keep her fat and healthy on just sweet feed, i'd have to give her alot, and I'd be afraid if I gave her that much she could founder... but wouldn't mind giving her some as a treat, or a little mixed in to her feed :-) haha yeah I'd hate for someone to tell me i couldn't have sweet food when I got old lol.

thats a neat idea. shes eating her feed fine right now, but I'll keep that in mind if she starts not being able to eat her pellets. good idea. thanks so much!

Yes I knew that there was something I was trying to think of that bugged me about her coat. Cushings is what I bet is going on...

is this going to cost me alot to help her? b/c she was a free mini i was rescuing, and I have the time to take care of her, but I dont want to be spending alot of money, I might just have to find her a new rescue home if it's going to cost alot. or even if i'm going to have to spend money constantly on stuff to treat this...?!?!

She might not have Cushings... as horses age their coats just don't shed out as quickly.

My QH mare has never gotten much of a winter coat and always shed out quickly. We just moved up here to the desert and the nights (and this winter) it just got freezing!!! She got a thick winter coat and has just barely finished shedding. My other two were done over a month ago.

Man I really hope she doesn't.. I mean I know one of my paints is still shedding, as is my other mini, they're almost shed out, but she is alot older so I was just thinking it would take her longer anyways. . but i guess we'll see, the only one of the symptons that she had was the shedding one, so i dont know if she does or not. doesn't see like it. I only pray she doensn't!

The photo with the boy is awesome. She looks good and definitely not pregnant. Given her age... she may be happier on the lighter side.
