What do you think of this combination?

My palomino QuArab mare Abby had to be retired from the show circuit because of windwalls or windhsells (what ever you want to call them), I can still ride her but only lightly so no galloping, sporting, or jumping which is all she likes to do. I have decided to put her in foal this august for a 2009 foal. After months of searching I think i have found a suitable stallion.

He's a bay 15.2hh egyptian arabian stallion. He's an absolute stunner and when i saw him move my jaw it the floor. He has a loving friendly temprament, but is still spirited and loves to strut his stuff.

I really would love a palomino filly, and though he's bay he's only heterozygous black (his dam was flaxen chestnut) so there is still a chance. Here's a picture of abby and some of the stallion Simeon Shamai.

Abby (Miss 110 Percent)

Simeon Shamai

(just to show how quiet he is)

For more info and pictures of Simeon Shamai his website is:

Thanx in advance!

His sire line is very simular to my mare's. When I saw the Simeon, I thought Simeon Shai and was going to say he defenitily doesn't live up to his father... BUT he is further down the line Thought I'd point out he's Egyptian and Crabbet Crabbets are thought to be the most "sporty" of the arabs and cross well with Saddlebreds and the likes because of their extreme durability.

I suppose it depends on what you are wanting out of this cross... a more araby, refined look, or a small QH. The thing that really stands out to me is his exceptionaly long face. A stud fee of $350 isn't bad, but I hope the low price isn't your deciding factor.

Thanx Rumonek, yer i know about the crabbets didn't realize he was crabbet and egyptian though. I have a little crabbet filly who's so smart and lovely she never stops serprising me.

What i want for the foal is a shorter back then abby, a more refined look and a lighter build because the grass in my area is really green and lush and often i'm fighting off founder on abby because of the heavier quarter horse in her. I'm also looking for a stallion that can improve her movement, and her tail is always bonus becuase she has a whisper of a tail lol. The low stud fee is a bonus but no it's not my deciding factor, I just fell inlove with this horse when i saw him. Not to mention he's within an hour and a half drive from where i live, so it makes him more convinient.

Do you mean windpuffs? If so, those are cosmetic, though do have origins in some trauma to the leg. Do you know why she developed them? If it was because of her conformation, then do you really want to be passing that on?

If you want a shorter back, I wouldn't breed to him personaly. He's by no means ugly, just isn't that pleasing overall. When he's in motion, yes, but his confo pics, no. When I get home I'm going to look for some studs that I like I wouldn't count him out of the running, but you already said you've gone 2 years, so another few weeks/months won't hurt

This stud has some beautiful and winning stallions that are in Australia:

I love these boys:

Tabu is an extremely successful show horse under both Australian and International Judges, taking out awards such as:
 •
National Stud Horse Show - Champion Colt;
National Capital Horse Show - Champion Colt;
East Coast Arabian Championships - Reserve Champion (three times!);
Sydney Royal Easter Show - winner of The Musgrave Clark Sash for Best Colt;
Sydney Royal Easter Show - Champion Stallion or Colt and Supreme Arabian Exhibit;
 • and far too many more to list.

I had the vet come out and look at them. he said that there was a common misconseption that they were just cosmetic. he said what really happens is the tight band around the top of the fetlock gets torn from strenuous work on the joints and the joint fluid leaks into the tendon sheith. The bands recover but they scar and become brittle and tear again if the work is continued. He said they'd only get worse as she gets older. She was used for a stock mare before i got her and then a sporting pony which is when we suspect the injury happened becuase she's had them ever since we got her (considering i only paid $10 for her i didn't really bother too much about them). Only after 4 years of eventing training, have they become a problem.

Believe me if i thought it was from her conformation i wouldn't even consider breeding her no matter how good the stallion.
