What do you think of this mare's breeding?

My boss offered to give me this mare for free, she said If it wasn't sound to ride and I wanted it bred she would do that also...shouldI take it?

Well, she's 17 years old already... so I would not breed her due to age. Too many factors playing into breeding, and when you add age to it, it can get messy.

So, if she's not fit to ride, and you don't want a pasture pal, I would not get her.

She's not a maiden however....she's had at least one foal, though it was 8 years ago.

Hard to say without seeing the mare. Also, is she not sound because of a conformation default? Then of course you would not want to breed her.

As for her lines, dont know much about TB although Northern Dancer and Bold Ruler stand out. Sounds like youd have a racer lol.

She was a racer and she had a foal last year and this year. I'm not sure how many she had before that. She was fine both times, no complications and both foals where amazing looking, exact replicas of her. She has really lovely conformation except she is a bit on the short side.

Would you breed her at 17 and only going off her bloodlines?

Whyere does it say she had a baby? *looks at confusing colours on pedigree and wonders if they mean something

Not at all. If everything else was in line (health, confo, disposition, etc) I wouldn't NOT breed her just because she was 17, especially after finding out that she has had foals the past two years as well.

The OP WAS asking for a bloodline critique though

She was bred last year and was going to be bred this year but the stallion had bred three other mares that day and he was booked for a while afterwards so by the time they realized she hadn't caught it was to late to breed hewr again this year and get a racing foal.
