The fact that your mare is not gray means there is no gray gene there. If you want gray breed to a gray stallion.

LOL Guess I should have read further down the page before responding... The thing is to find a gray sire that has thrown taller offspring. What do the offspring of any sire you are interested in look like and what have they done?

I like the stud a lot, and I think you've made a good choice.

I'm not a fan of the Skys Blue Boy horses in general, but I don't mind that stud at all. It's a good choice, I think he will compliment your mare as well.

If I were you I'd hope from something around 16.2hh. HUS horses are getting a little bit smaller again, or at least the goods ones that are 16hh-16.2hh aren't beating the lesser 17hh horses now, thank goodness ahha.

But you need the height. We had a mare that was nearly 16hh and bred to Coats N Tails the first time, the mare will be lucky if she reached 15.2hh, and she has two horses by TLC and the filly I haven't seen her since a yearling but I think she'd finish about 16.1hh, and then the colt will probably be 16.2hh+. Both studs were 16.3hh so breeding to a 17hh stud is probably a good idea for your mare.

Yeah I mean I REALLY like him for my mare. And have been around Skys Blue Boy babies and they were all really quiet and sweet. So I think i'll get a pretty quiet one. I really wasn't serious about getting a grey haha..I just want a tall filly..but really whatever comes out is gonna be awesome because I just think its a really great cross

If you like the stallion and think the cross will be awesome then that is what you should do. It is always better to go with your heart then to second guess it because someone else did not think so. It is going to be yours so make yourself happy.

That way you cannot beat anyone else up after the fact! LOL I am never angry when a foal is not what I thought it should be because I choose the mare and the stallion... Chalk it up to a life lesson. Good luck and I am thinking tall thoughts for you.
