| Senior Member | What do you think? Dress or Field boot?!
What do you think: Should field and dress boots be mixed? for example: Dress boots being used for jumping. Is it "cheesey", does it matter? hehe, I love asking random questions like this. Please answer with taste and respect for everyone! Thanks.

I won't condem someone for showing Hunters/Jumpers in Dress boots rather than field, although field boots are traditionally what should be shown in for both, just like I'd hope a Dressage rider wouldn't put a fellow rider down for showing in field boots...sometimes it's necessary for people to for-go "tradition" and "the norm" due to financial reasons not because they simply don't know what the vast majority show in

I would never frown down on someone for wearing field boots in Dressage and dress boots in a H/J ring. It really doesn't matter in the end, it's just tradition is all

| Senior Member+ | What about the option of wearing Dressage boots??? hehehe There is a difference between Dress boots and Dressage boots, although most people (and companies) don't know it. I choose the option "it doesn't really matter". I mean have shown Dressage all my life in field boots simply b/c that was the boot that best fit my calves (my calves are nearly non-existant, so it's impossible to find boots that fit without going custom, so I went with the ones with the smallest calves). However, I think wearing dress boots in the hunter ring would be looked down upon far more! My next pair will be a custom pair of Dressage boots with my initials stamped into the leather thought!

There is always the matter of what is 'tradition' BUT overall,,,,wear whatever boots you can afford and are comfy for you. If they're comfy and fit well, they're safe. I've seen dress boots in jumping events and have to say that *I* don't like the look of it...I much prefer field boots (but then I like lace up paddocks over roper style boots too
