You're not alone, I'm in the minority with ya I ride strictly for pleasure but not because I am against eventing or showing in any way. I do not currently think I have the skills to do those things but maybe someday I will and I'll consider doing some of the fun stuff too.

I like to watch the skills of really accomplished riders and their horses and admire them greatly for it but I think pleasure riding and enjoying your horse are just as honorable and respectable and I think most other people do too.

Shoot, I enjoy just grooming my guy and spending time with him Like I did today, thats not riding at all but it was quality time for both of us

right now i do mounted games and showjumping mainly - but its foreign to me that you guys in america only compete in one discipline. When i go to a show i do showjumping, hunter classes, games, handy pony, equitation classes and inhand classes all with the same pony (breed classes too if they have them). Depending on whether i have one of my old hands or a youngster i expect to be equally as successful in all. Shows the huge differences on the other side of the water. Versatility is the name of the game over here, i guess brilliance in a specialty is more the US style.

I mainly spend my time training mustangs, but when one gets good, i show them in open shows in reining, western pleasure, english pleasure/hunt seat, showmanship/halter/model classes, barrel racing and/or pole bending. I also have this thoroughbred that is awsome in goat tying.
