My events are showmanship and western pleasure, but I also do horsemanship, trail, and hopefully by the end of the year I will be doing hunter under saddle.

I don't "show", I rodeo Mostly barrels now that I'm out of High School Rodeo and Jr. Rodeo. When did those I did barrels, poles, goat tying and breakaway roping. Still do poles, goat tying and breakaway roping for fun with our Ropin' And Ridin' club (we get together and practice some evenings, so it's purely just for fun). Rope a lot at home with my brother, might start team roping with my dad next year. That could be interesting LOL!!!

As for the competing thing, I have at 1-3 rodeos a weekend (I ride 3 circuits) plus go some jackpots now and then during the week (usually only 2 or 3 a month). However, my friend only goes to a few rodeos a year (her job sucks LOL, weekend work :P) and she competes just as well as I do!! Riding ability has nothing to do with whether you compete or not, I just happen to be a very competitive person who LOVES competing.

Well I guess I'm in the minority 'cause I don't show at all! I only ride for pleasure. Never got interested in showing. I may ride in a few parades later, but that's about the extent of it.

I compete in speed events... mostly barrels and poles. I don't really have the time to go to many shows. I usually have at least 1 or 2 a week and then every other weekend. I'll go to a jackpot 1 or 2 times a month but I don't have the time right now to haul very far. I mostly ride with the East Texas Horse Show Association.

Good luck RedRanger... you'll love it. I agree, winning isn't everything. Just as long as you are having fun and doing what you love!

Not showing this year, he has WLD in his feet, but, I show my little chap In-Hand, Welsh classes, Mountain and Moorland, Affiliated and Open shows.

This is my last little rider on him, she has now moved onto Jumping

She was doing real well on him only one second, all other first is ridden M & M open and affiliated

In Hand

Now what I will do with this unexploded bomb, not sure, but jumping is her thing.
Would be struggling for classes though, but she has jumped 4ft, Or could show Mountain and Moorland, but only open, got no papers get her Tuesday, and need to loose a ton of weight

Will see how it goes, just excited to be getting her

Jane
