What do you guys think??

I am lightly browsing for a horse and was wondering what age would be good for me and if I need a fully trained horse or could I get a project horse?

I have been riding for about a year and 9 months, started when I was 10 then quite after 3 months of riding and started up again when I was 13 or 14, and jump around 2', possibly a bit higher, and my goal is to be at 3' by this summer which means I have to work my butt off harder than I have been.

I don't know what more information you may need to give me a good idea so if you need anything else just ask!

I also have some pictures from my very first show which was a long time ago which took place in May but they are not recent at all but if you'd like to see them than I can post them.

Thanks in advance!

If you have only been riding for about a year and 9 months i would get a fully trained horse.thats just in my opinion. For the age it all depends on the horse because you could have a 6 year old thats completly broke and sound or you could have the same age but the horse could be crazy so it all depend on the horse. Once your more experienced you could get a project horse to work with but just be safe for now untill you really are ready.

Go ahead and post them..

I would say get something pretty well trained, with showing experience, not under 10 years of age... be safe, not sorry! Once you have more experience, you can always get something younger to work with.

I haven't been riding for 9 months. I've been riding for 1 year and 9 months. Not 9 months.

Ok, here they are. Remind you, these are from a long time ago and I am much better now!! I'll try to get more recent ones when I go riding on Monday.

I would go with a trained horse(not neccessarly a fully trained, but not green), this will help you develop as a rider before you worry about training a green horse.

If I were you, I would get something like...not as calm and such a lesson horse...but not something as spooky as a three year old. Maybe like...a nine year old hunter horse with some show experience...if you want to continue jumping anyway.

I would get a well trained horse, only because I know you. I think it would be good for you to get a well trained horse, or atleast one that behaves most of the time, to get into jumping and what not seriously.. then if you feel you can handle it , and want to put in the time, get a greener one , just my opinion though
