Arrow What do you expect from stallion owners?

As a mare owner....
I expect them to be courtious and helpful when I ask questions about their stallion ect. and of course honesty. But thoes are things most of us expect.
I have manly breed to stallions who are either the only horse they have or the mane horse. So not big breeders..
-Ive come to expect them wanting updates on their stallions foal, with pictures and details.
-I also expect updates on their stallion and other foals.
- I would like to expect the stallion owners to post about their foals, esp. when you go out of your way to gather information like show records and pictures of the foal you have that helps promote their stallion
thought that doesnt seem to happen much
Any ways just wanted to know what every one else expects

I've never bred a horse before...
BUT!
I'd would, like you, expect the stallion owner/stander to be honest with the stallion. It's faults, it's foals, it's wins, etc.
Agian, like you, I think it's nice when any owner of any horse is interested in your horse. It would be nice if the owner occasionally checked in through email, phone, snail mail, whatever, to hear how the mare is.

Really just common courtesy and interest. Heck, if you own a stallion, you SHOULD be interested in the mares that have been bred with him.

When I was looking for a stallion for my boys mom I had my criteria set out for the mare. I hadn't really thought about the stallion owner.

I was lucky in that I bred to a stallion belonging to a farm that stood several stallions and managed to hook up with the wife instead of the husband. She was courtious, HONEST ( as I said glad it was the wife) and went overboard to ensure my mare got pregnant especially since she was a maiden mare.

BOP....all in all I have found the smaller breeders do tend to bend over backwards to help. Maybe it is like Hertz ( try a little harder...LOL)

Never bred before BUT I know what I would like.

1. Honesty about the stallion, his foals, etc. and if my mare would be a good match for that particular stallion.
2. Willingness to answer questions, help make sure everything goes smoothly, etc.
3. Interest in what my mare has done, what I plan to do with the foal, etc. Basically interested in the future of the foal, not just getting that stud fee as soon as possibly.
4. Fairness as far as contracts go so that if something does happen to go wrong, all parties would leave satisfied and on good terms. (goes for me too!)
5. Follow-ups on the mare during pregnancy (just as a courtesy), the foal as it gets older, and interest in being kept updated so the foal could help to promote the stallion as well.

I love hearing about the babies, when they are born, updated pics, accomplishments etc... I also praise the owners, and place their pics/accomplishments on my website. : )

Well, considering I am breeding my mare for the first time next year I have delt with a few stallion owners and this is what I really found good.

1) Professionalism -responding to me right away and being able to answer EVERY questions I had in terms of their stallions, prices, shipping, problems and outcome.
2) Knowledge - Being able to view some pictures and information about my mare, and help to to chose what would best compliment her, even if they didnt think it would be thier stallion.
3) Presentation - Getting information (packages and DVD) to me right away, a nice, clear video of the stallion showing the conformation, movement and show history.

Thats a few..
