What do horses mean to you?

So.. partially for help with a paper for my college writing calss (although I have a pretty good start, but could use a few more ideas) and I also just want to know what horses mean to people on here! I think could be a neat thread.

How have horses enhanced your life? What life skills has being around horses taught you? Just stuff like that

I'll post mine in bit

Freedom from the stresses of life. Happiness with and pride in myself. An unbreakable bond.

A competition partner and a good friend. Kind of like the friend you go and play sports with, and you can tell anything. I expect a certain attitude and disposition from my partner but I know they're not perfect

These huge powerful animals that let us control them, befriend us, form partnerships and bonds. They have these huge hearts to try so hard for us yet they could just walk away if they wanted and leave. They could plow us over and go but they dont. They are the greatest things human ever domesticated because not only do they serve as workers but also pets, friends, and partners.

Thats basically how I see the animal itsself.

As for changing my life and others,

The forms responsibilities and show us how two totally different things can be friends and work together.

For me, Gypsy is both physical and mental therapy- she helps me with balance and coordination. Being around horses in general taught me responsibility when I was younger, and now, I just enjoy riding, and doing things with Gypsy- it's a great stress reliever!

I love the fact that horses aren't judgemental, and when you are able to teach them something, and see the results, it's very rewarding.

oh man, literally i could write and write about this. but to shorten it up a bit..
horses are my world, my life. I find myself waking up thinking about my horses. When I was younger it was the same way, it's never changed, never will. riding horses even before I owned them was just like taking everything that was bad in my life, and throwing it away for just a little while, and then when I'd step off that horse it was just all I would think about for the next few days, it's been a true blessing that I have had horses in my life, I got my first horse 9 years ago, and now I'm blessed with 8 beautiful horses, they're my babies, I've never been into sports and such, but I dont need to, b/c I have my horses.. I have learned several disiplines on them, including natural horsemanship, which was AmAzInG, bonded with my horses like I never had dreamed I could. my only worry is loosing them, it's to hard to even think about, from the time I wake up in the morning until the time I go to bed at night, my life is fully revolved around them, so they mean more than the world to me. They aren't just "pets". To me, they're my children, and once you have them, they're with you until the end. God is my #1 (to clearify) but i love my horses OH so MUCH!
