its the con of only knowing one breed.. can you tell me how the color black is passed on (is there two color genes you need to mix like in a polamino or is it a bace color like sorrel and "black" or is it the brown one that is the "mixed" color ???
can you point out pics who show the differens?

Yay! I want her to be black, but I'll be happy with whatever way her color goes lol. Her eyecolor is a little odd, but very pretty! What does a smokey black look like?

Hard to tell yet but looks like she could be a base color of Bay and is turning grey. In the pictures to me it looks like alot of grey colored hairs coming.

Wow thats a difficult one to figure out

Maybe she's going a ceal brown? We had a filly that was born pretty black, got a little smokey, and then started going a ceal brown. Although I'm not sure she was quite as smokey looking as yours.

Make sure you post pictures when she's all shedded out

I wonder about smoky black too. The eyes, and the gold tint to the hair inside the ears (not just tan, but a gold tint) makes me wonder about smoky black.

Have a look at my horse. We guess he´s a smoky black, but he isn´t tested.

sonnenblume, yes, your guy might indeed be a smoky black. That gold-tinted hair in his ears makes me think so.
