I agree with Wyldterv... DONT use baby oil that's dirt's best friend! I suggest for socks and white markings use cornstarch or chalk! it makes the markins stand out more. You can feed things like (hand) ground flax, and vegetable oils to help get a soft, shiny coat. Usually when I go to big shows I use vaseline on my horses ears (I only suggest this if your horse has nice ears...) nose (i clip it before as well) and eyes. If you put something like hoof polish on their feet make sure you put a moisturizer on after. Even vaseline because it dries out their feet. Another thing to make a shiney coat is Show Sheen! he he. (DO NOT spray saddle area too much if you'll be riding after!) Keep a clean lightweight blanket on when they're not being shown and I suggest washing them thoroughly the night before. If your horse itches, put listerine or something where they itch and it gets rid of the itch. Wrap their legs with polo's, put on a slinky and blanket on and a tail bag and you're ready to go!
