Arrow What are your surefire ways to tie a tailbag?

I tie it ok, but it always slips a little bit and looks all messy and not tied right. So what are your tips and tricks to tie a tailbag? Pictures and step by step instructions would be great!

Thanks!

It depends on what kind you have.

Lindsayanne says that a zip tie beneath the dock will keep any tail bag on! I've got to try that!

That does sound like a good idea. I need to take some zip ties to the barn anyhow to add to my trail kit (saddle bags).

I read that!!

And subsequently tried it..... and it didn't work for me. Well, it was ok, but it still didn't stay in for very long.

And it's the regular kind of tailbag, not the 3 tube one

I've had the best luck with the cloth ones with two ties on each side--I work them through the top of the braid to the opposite corner and tie, they always stayed put until I took them off.

Only ever used ones that attach to a sheet/rug. these are stuck on with double 2 inch velcro and rarely come off.

Gluey..I use the same kind...and have found SWISH very good although plenty of $$$$....I have had the cotton tail bags lined with satin which keeps the tail a lot smoother.

We have QHs and by luck found some very long ones allready satin lined for only $15. We sew up the botoms and put 2 pieces of velcro on the tailbag and 2 on the rug. I'll have to find out the brand.
