| Full Member | What are your favorite grooming tools?
I was wondering what you all like to use while grooming your horse including brushes and products? I am the master of grooming since I have miniatures, they have to be perfect in my eyes especially for a show. I love my soft brushes, I use those most because I don't groom their coats in the winter. The soft brushes bring out the most shine. I love my vaccuum. This works great in the winter, pulls the shedding hair and dirt right out before a clip. Instead of the regular mane brushes, I like these little combs (kind of like a human, straight-bristle brush with a handle) that I got from country supply. They are easier to control and easier to use to get knots out. Baby Wipes... enough said. Vet wrap for tails. Baby oil gel Ultra finishing spray Ultra highlighter A black permanent marker (To cover missed spots on hooves, remove bleached strands of hair from a black mane and tail... the list goes on) Cowboy Magic/ShowSheen/Laser Sheen |

I mostly turn out hunters and for hunter trials but my fave grooming things are - My clippers (Heiniger heavy duty) A goat's hair body brush - brings up a really nice shine to any coat. A metal dog comb - really good for tails Alvadazzle coat conditioner - works really well to give soft, shiny lustorous coats and m/t Convital Silicone Shine - great for show day shining (not for everyday though) My grooming stone - great for caked in mud. |

For the show ring... ~World Champion Pepi ~Show Sheen ~soft brushes ~vegetable cooking spray... (gives a nice shine to hooves) ~gel (alcohol free) put on their manes after banding, & before the slinky ~Hoof Black

hummm.... well in the winter, the first thing I use is the shedding blade to scrape off the caked on mud, then it is the turbo groom vacume to get all the mud and dust out of the coat....then I curry with a plastic curry brush , followed up with a stiff dandy brush, then the soft brush and finally the good old fasioned terry towel and show sheen , that gets the last of the dirt from the coat!
