Sinbad- working on really establishing the basics and encouraging him to relax. Lots of circles at walk and trot.

TT- we're working on lots of things, mainly to encourage him to step under himself and not try to use me to carry him around. Lots of laterals, particularly travers on a circle at walk, trot and canter. Walk-through simple changes, starting on his flying changes again, keeping him forward and up without him trying to rush, and keeping his attention whenever something scary like a chair does something scary like...not move.

well my horse is great at jumping, so i think our skills in that area are fine, just tweaking.
we are also good with leads and transitions
but! in the fall we are going to seriously work on headset and i mean serious! look out pony! i dont mind that his neck/head are up in canter, i just hate how he sticks his nose out though!

Stubby: Making him into into a three day horse. So really working on our dressage and my trainer is taking him XC in a week! He can actually hold himself in a frame at the walk and trot. And he can actually stay in a frame on his own at the trot half way around the arena and then he needs me to remind him to stay on the bit and stay engaged in his hind end.

Czar: Getting him really consistent on his right lead canter transitions so he doesnt buck when asked to canter. And getting him (and me) prepared for an XC clinic in less then 2 months. And then in November I will most likely be taking him to MY FIRST 3 day event.

Taz: Getting him to halt and walk on when asked. Getting him to cross tie. Getting him water-accepting all over his body. And mainly just getting him to BE POLITE.

Lol

Pagan - going forward. Story of my life with her
Adam - he's a stb just off the track, he's on just starting. Relaxing will be the first big hurdle.

Wisher- 5 yr old AQHA, 15hh- high collection, lead changes, barrel racing, polebending- goal is to take her to Congress this year for Barrel racing and Polebending (junior horse and Nov-am).

Ben- 7 yr old AQHA Appendix, 16.2hh- low-level collection, even stride, softening on the bit, leg aids, neckreining, all-around lightness... hunter under saddle, some hunter hack and western pleasure. Eventually going to Congress for hunter and equitation, but not this year, just getting him trained up this year and having some fun at local shows.

Turbo- 10 yr old ApHC, 15.2hh- Rehabbing feet and other various health issues, such as uneven muscle tone through the topline/no topline, and a bone abcess/infection on the jaw. In between we're working on basics on a snaffle, lightness, relaxation, and low-level collection/laterals. Eventually going to run Sweepstakes barrels at Congress (maybe next year) and some supershows.

Sunner- 12 yr old AQHA, 15.1hh- Rehabbing body condition completely, working on getting weight on her and managing her odd addiction to drinking water. Then learning to ride this ridiculously push-button balky western pleasure mare and teach her some hunter under saddle... probably be showing her locally at money performance shows in July.

Small Fry- 3 yr old quarter pony, 13.3hh- Getting ridden hunter/western pleasure and very green. Goal is to get him solid in his training and get him sold to an experienced kid to show performance.

Gooser- 15 yr old AQHA, 16hh- rehabbing feet, plus mental vacation time to just hang out and be a horse instead of a show horse. Might bring him back into some barrel racing next year, and do some more dressage and performance stuff. Riding a bit for 20 mins a day now to get some weight off him... can't feel his ribs. LOL

Busy, busy. My main focus this year is on the barrel racing/polebending, pleasure horses are secondary. Luckily they're easy to ride. You just jump on and go win. Gotta make more time for my pony.

How can you ride in order to make your horse's job easier for them?

Well, I'm 33 weeks pregnant, so no riding but here's what I do with mine.

Daily, they get tied to to their respective arena posts and brushed.....

Jack - 12 yo App/QH - (My baby) Groundwork a few times a week, but really he's getting time off along with me. I bribe my husband to ride him about once a week....

Sissy - 5 yo AQHA - I groom and saddle then my husbands rides her. They are working on responsiveness to seat and legs while keeping a soft mouth. She is also learning to go for extented rides on her own (~10 miles). And he loves to make her go up and down the wide cemet stairs to your house.

Diamond - 5yo APHA - I do about an hour of groundwork with her to get her thinking instead of reacting. She only has about 15 rides on her, so when husband rides her he's working on softness and bending at the walk and trot and getting good forward motion. He's also starting on getting her relaxed into a canter. She's done pretty much all arena work, but should be hitting the trails soon.

Sonny - 4 yo Welsh/Paint X - Hmm...Well Sonny is a pony... We are actually teaching him how to drive, so he gets to haul rocks, trees, and fire wood and also drags the arena. Hubby's been on him a few times, but now we're concentrating on getting him pulling enough to actually try a cart someday!!

Reba - 3 yo APHA - Well Reba didn't have the greated start in life, so she just gets to look pretty till we start her this fall. She enjoys sleeping at her post until we're done working everyone else.

what im working on-
balancing in canter, keeping relaxed, going forward, rounding at the canter finally
lots of trotting poles to get his trot nice and flowy
work on shortening and lengthening trot strides
turning, in general
some lateral work
and maybe jumping a few cross rails-he's finally getting a sense of where his feet are
that's what we work on everyday
and im also going to start him on some hill work to help tone that butt
he likes doing a bunch of different things. he seems to be enjoying our new routine

With Hal I'm working on getting ready for the AQHA World Show. My goal is to make the top ten at the world. I'm also working on getting qualified for the Western Nationals by staying in the top ten in the pacific coast. We are in fifth right now or something. Mostly working on getting consistent at shows, which is more of a mental game than anything.
Working on getting more centered and more symmetrical, that is an ongoing thing, a forever thing. Working on timing and communication.
With Vespa, she's got about 30 days on her, so we are working on movement, learning how to follow her nose, bend through the ribs, which foot goes where, etc. I'm introducing her to cattle right now.
