What are some Good Dressage Saddles?

I never thought this day would ever happen. The day I have decided I want a dressage saddle because I *gasp* Want to do dressage!! (Up until now, I've never had much fondness for it, cause I was never taught properly. One lesson with an awesome trainer changed my mind! And seeing much Belle loves going into frame. )

Anywho, so considering I've been a jumper my entire career until now (and I've only ridden in all purpose), What are nice dressage saddles? (That are fairly inexpensive. Under $1000 if possible).

^^I second that!

Wintec saddles are very nice and very affordable. I like their Isabell the best. I rode in a Wintec Isabell for several years before I went out and bought my own, but when I did, I upgraded and went with a Bates Isabell.

I have a Thornhill Vienna II and am very happy with the look and especially the comfort of the saddle.

Hmm. I do like wintecs, they are so easy to care for! And definitely within my price range. I hope my local take store has some Isabelle's, I know they have dressage 500s.

Is it leather? I do like leather (I'd just have to stop being lazy about cleaning )

Yup, it's 100% leather. I picked mine up (barely) used on ebay for $600 (they sell new for $850-1000).

It has a medium-wide twist to it which is perfect for me. From the first time I sat in it, it felt like it was custom molded to my body.

Here's a pic of it on one of my boys when I was checking to see if it fit them:

I love the older dressage saddles by Collegiate, Crosby, and Stubben! They're really comfy! Wintec Isabell's and 500s are both nice as well. Marco Tolousse makes an AWESOME dressage saddle, but not quite in your limit (and it wasn't in mine either when the lady at the tack store let me sit it one! ).

One thing though - you said that you want one from one lesson...I'd take a couple more and make sure before you jump right in, but that's just my opinion.

A good saddle is one that fits you and your horse. For under $1000 I'd look and wintec and second hand ones.

Good luck.
