She has a QH mare in foal to him right now. That mare actually looks a lot like Dolly. She likes Dolly, but I am sure she likes $500 too. She does not seem to mind QH, from what I can tell. I am going to go see her stud in the spring, also the Appy stud too. I am not in a hurry to breed Dolly, I just like to look.

Thats good to know.
I was just curious because of what she said in her email. It doesn't make sense to be to not support registration for the foals that come out breeding stock.

I don't think that's what she's saying. With APHA's new rule, cropouts are no longer eligible for registration with APHA. What makes you think she doesn't want to breed to Quarter Horses?

Barrel Babe, The way I understand the rule... solid foals that have one AQHA or JC registered parent CAN be registered with the APHA as breeding stock....so I was questioning if she did or didn't want to breed her stallion to Quarter Horses because of what she said:
Quote:
Although APHA now has a new rule regarding registration, it's called "One Paint Parent" so if we breed Skeeter to a QH or TB and happen to get a solid, the foal can still be registered as breeding stock paint. I don't agree with the new rule and voted against it the year before, but that's politics for you.
It read to me like she was against the rule that allows solid foals, that have one parent AQHA or JC registered, from being APHA registered as breeding stock.
I was just thinking that it was unusual for her to support a rule that might discourage none APHA mare owners to want to breed to her Paint stallion.
I thought it was strange for a stallion owner to want to have a rule that would prevent solid foals out of, or by, a AQHA or JC registered parent from being registered as APHA Breeding stock.
To me such a rule would be taking out a third of possible breedings to APHA registered stallions.
While she has every right to her opinion, as well as to breed or not breed her stallion as she chooses...it is, IMO, unusual to support any rule that might limit your breedings and what she said in her email sounded like that was what she supported to me, so naturally I would question if she really was interested in breeding her stallion to anything other than APHA mares.

I don't know if you are familiar with APHA and forgive me if I sound like I'm questioning you, but at first I did not understand the rules either. The new rule in no way affects breeding stock horses. Breeding stock are simply horses of Paint descent that have no coloring. The new rule rules out cropouts which are Quarter Horses, Appendixes, or Throughbreds that are colored. The APHA was originally formed for these horses, as all Paints are of Quarter Horse or TB lineage. Over time, these "cropouts" produced more and more colored horses. With AQHA changing their white rule, such cropouts are now allowed in the AQHA, opposed to before where they had nowhere to go.
Lol I'm trying to explain this but if anyone could help me out(HalterGirl, Paint_luver, etc. I could use it!)
*The owner's statement is telling Shell that if she happens to get a solid foal, she can rest assured that he/she can still be registered with APHA. I think she threw in her two cents about the new rule to simply explain it if Shell heard otherwise

LOL...Barrel Babe I understand the rule and know all about the origin of the APHA....no problems here...
It is likely that I have interpreted what the lady said differently than she meant. If I was going to breed a mare to her stallion (which I am not) I would have just asked her for more of an explanation to make sure I understood her.
