It may vary by breed association, but gloves are not worn in stock breed classes and they are no longer worn in Showmanship either. The only class that gloves are still worn are HUS and Eq classes.

The black goes well with my horses black points.
I wear red with my bay gelding and it looks great! There are a lot of people that do red with bays, but you just have to make sure it is a good shade and works with your horses color. I guess on some blood bays it may not look as good as with a darker bay.

I love looking at high quality show outfits. I just started showing this year, so my outfits aren't too glamorous.
--This is my showmanship outfit.
--My red shirt I use for western pleasure/trail/and halter.
--My english outfit
--My horsemanship slinky.
--My orange shirt I use for halter/showmanship, and western pleasure, and trail.

No gloves for SMS in QH at least. You will not see anyone at the majors showing with them either. I know when I was showing ten years ago I was wearing them, but no more - thank god!

Hmm....Well I never did breed shows. I know at open shows 2-3yrs ago we were wearing them, and for horsemanship as well. I'm going to have to go do research at my local shows!

I haven't seen people wear gloves at the open shows I go to for a long time other than English classes.

Here are some of the outfits I wear:

SMS - I have also used this jacket to ride in, but really don't like how I look in it while riding.

WP, HMS, Trail - I could probably wear it for SMS as well.
