| Senior Member+ | We're getting there...
This is kind of a useless thread, just felt inspired to share. I've had Banner for about a month and a half, and I think we're getting to be pretty good buddies. He's not just some horse, he's really starting to feel like my horse. I wish wish wish I had a roundpen though. I don't really depend on a roundpen to do all my training or anything, but I think it'd be a good way to get to know him better. Some free longeing. He had that corneal ulcer thing a few weeks ago, so I haven't been riding him. Lots of grooming and groundwork sessions. He absolutely hates his fly mask that he has to wear to keep the sun out of his eye. He pins his ears every time you put it on. I left it off last night so his skin could have a break, and I got up before the sun got bright to feed the horses and put it back on. I walked out with the mask and the halter, and he just stood with his nose on my chest while I put the mask on. The mask that he hates, and he stood perfectly for it at feeding time with no halter. Such a good boy. Then he followed me past all of the other horses (he's at the very bottom of the totem pole, poor guy). I was actually surprised; he's the last one through the gate, but he walked right behind me. I might be anthropomorphosizing, but I'd like to think it's because he has trust in me And I got to ride him for the first time in two weeks last night. He wasn't thrilled about ending his vacation, and seemed to have forgotten what forward motion was for a few minutes, but he got over it and we had a nice trotting session. Forward and responsive as ever. He was very much showing his green side, but I'd almost forgotten how much I enjoy riding him. So anyways...I don't have any new pictures of Banner; I hope to be getting some new ones soon. You all can enjoy some repeat pictures of the handsome Mr. Banner-man. This picture is old; this was the first day I had him on trial. Look how dreadfully skinny he was. Whenever I'm frustrated with him not gaining weight fast enough, I just look at this and remind myself how far he's come. ![]() Look at that CUTE little face of his. He has such a sweet little boy personality ![]() Whenever I turn him out, no matter what we were doing, he walks few steps away, turns around and gets some water, puts his head on the gate and nickers. Every single time. ![]() This was the day before his eye got hurt. He was really starting to look nice. We've kinda taken a step backwards, but we'll get there again ![]() Looking guilty after rolling right after his bath ![]() Us! ![]()

He's looking good. You sound so much happier now that your horse search is over. It wasn't an easy one, was it!

I *hated* the horse search. The two other horses that I've owned were given to me, so there was no choosing involved. No searching or weighing pros and cons, lol. I always thought picking one out for myself would be fun, but findind a decent hunter/jumper in Alabama, the land of gaited breeds, was not so much fun.
