weird mare

Ok as some of you I have accident prone, underweight mare Natty.....

Well I noticed yesterday that the hair on the back of her leg, from her cribbing muzzle incident are dark grey, I find that extremely weird. its not the first wound to fill in darker than the rest of her body but it strikes me as odd. I thought that wounds were supposed to fill in white, not dark grey...Correct me if Im wrong on that. her hocks also are dark grey from wounds, mainly from getting up and down on hard clay dirt stall. and a couple other spots on her face, withers, legs, haunches.....

Can someone explain the whole hair color regrowing thing to me? Im confused severely.

Nope, that is quite normal, especially if she's a grey.

Cribbing is a *symptom* and treating it alone without addressing the cause will lead to an even more stressed, unhealthy horse. Perhaps the reasons for her cribbing are also the reasons for her not being able to hold weight & being accident prone.
