The weather was some what "nice" today after 4 days of cold wet rain. I tried to try out a horse today for a lease and the weather was quite cold and windy. I think that and the combination of me not knowing what I'm doing helps, lol.

My horses get crazy when it gets cold. My big mare is fine under saddle in cruddy weather but she gets all un-focused and irratable some time's.When its just windy she's aright but she dosent pay much attention when the wind blow's real hard. ESP when there is a storm on the way. it's like they know. My other mare is a psyco in the rain/snow lol she gets all crazy and runs around and bucks like a wild horse lol.

Absolutely.

Our QH mare you don't even want to get within five yards of because she is such a 'tard on a windy day. If you catch her and lead her she is all business for the most part but she would rather play.

Magnum my Arabian colt gets a slight bit pushier because he'd rather play. I just give him a finger nail tap to the face to keep that head out of my space and to keep him under control and he calms. Very easy to handle for a stud colt.

As for our other two, they run around like big maniacs and have a blast.

My old thoroughbred gelding used to get wacko when the weather first started to get cooler. My mare did to but no where's near as bad as the gelding.

Hope turns into a spazz when it's super windy out. She's getting a lot better about it, with the trainer working her through most of her spooky issues.

Have had some recent coldness down in Florida, and hopped on my guy yesterday and he was forward, but he was NOT allowed to misbehave or be spooky.....

That was the first time I've actually worried a little about her reaction. Usually its just a few steps sideways & a spin or two. This time she was crow hopping & stuff. I rode it out & kept making her go past the same areas & kept her in a walk until she calmed her goofy butt down. But as soon as we left the arena, she started hesitating at things she never had before. I worked her through it all. Just got annoying.

I never want to have to lunge my horse before I ride her. I'm always told "Just ride her through it. She'll learn."
