Weaning foal at 3 months Pics

K sorry Dawn it took me a few but heres the pics of the foal she just turned 3 months on the 15 th the plan is too wean her this Sat coming up. This is the foal thats on the foundered mare. I'm going to put her in a round pen at the house instead of the pasture with Moonshine and the other yearling. I'm worried to much for her to get into cows creeks ponds rocks blah blah. Shes put on some I'm feeding her Horse Go 32 and TC Complete and hand grazing her and mama which mama don't need but oh well until sat. Any suggestions on feed and ect. I'm trying to find some good alfalfa hay but may have to go to pellets. How much Triple Crown Complete can I give her with a lb of Horse Go 32 or would you feed her different just looking for suggestion I might not have thought of. Thanks!

MIchelle I would pick one feed or the other and use it...

it is so hard to "balance" them when mixing!!!

TC's growth formula doesnt' look too bad either

the recommeneded amount of horsego is 2 to 3lbs per day ... with free choice hay

the TC Complete has no directions for weanlings!!

Shes just not eating that much yet. She nibbles. I was thinking alfalfa hay when I move her. I need to figure out what to feed her. I always feed Omelene 300 to my babies here. So now what! My feed guy called this is my week to pick up feed and he didn't get it ordered due to in the hospital so next week and I will have 4 horses out of horse go 32 by the end of this week so now what. No one keeps it in stock here. I used the TC Complete cuz thats what I had and it's higher fat. It's worked to help put some lbs on the baby you can't see her ribs now. I've also been hand grazing them which mama don't need but I'm trying to find a happy med for them both. Mama is losing the gut slowly lookin better. So whats Kent or Purina or ADM got thats a good feed for the baby?

You should really go with either the TC Growth (preferable) or TC Senior with her. (Or just a ration balancer.)

In those photos, she looks quite good condition wise. And, when weaned, she will also have more appropriate access to pasture and/or hay.

Pretty baby!

I would go with something more like milk-replacer feed at this young age. Free choice as long as she doesn't wolves it down.

Thanks guys. I may get some foal lac to add to her feed. I will see what she does on the ration balancer alone. I may check into the TC Growth I will call my feed dealer since my feed won't be in till wed. and see if he can add it to my order. Whats wrong with the Complete for the baby?

I think the only thing that could go wrong with the TC Complete is that you would have to feed alot to get the basic nutrients in her... but, given her weight I'm not sure....

We feed our mares and foals at least 14% TC Mare and Foal...it also comes in a 16%... just depends on their condition. ( I do mix TC Complete in for the mares though).

Sorry, I dont know anything about Kent or Purina!

Kent is the only dealer that will order the Triple Crown but there always trying to push there feed first. I do like the Kent ration balancer better then the TC 30%. Thanks girly!

You could feed Buckeye's Grow-n-win, if you can get Buckeye brand, I used that on my weanlings....
