Have weaned as young as 3 months, but that was because the mother died. (Not much you can do in that situation...) I prefer to wean around 6 months of age...

The majority of people I know wean at 4 months. All the weanlings we've had have been 4 months.

6 months if momma can keep up with baby that long...but we have weaned as early as 4 months, though I don't like to.

Unless there is a medical reason to do it earlier, I perfer to wean NO earlier then 5 ms and preferably 6 months. I want the foal to have all the benefit of Moma guidance it can When possible I also prefer to use the gradual weaning method... start having mare and foal spend time separated at between 3 and 4 months old... first for 10 mins then gradually increase their time apart, that way it is less traumatic for mare and foal when the day comes that you totally separate them. They have become accustomed to being apart to a degree.

I haven't polled my answer either as I wean between 4 - 6 months depending on each mare/foal combination.

I have always weaned the babies at three months. Especially if it is a mare we are planning to show and need to get her back into shape or if the baby is sucking the mare's weight down to much but we have kept them on for up to four months. I have found they bound to humans better if you wean them at three to four months but thats just me.
