Washing Faces and Forelocks

How do YOU wash your horses faces and forelocks? I've found this to be tricky, but maybe it's just me. I tried regular shampoo, and it ended up getting in their eyes, which was not good. I resorted to no-tears baby shampoo, which works, but doesn't really get it as clean as it could be, so I was curious. How do you, personally, wash your horses faces and forelocks?

I use watered down soap on Freedoms forlock, its long so i sort of push it back with her mane. I don't use soap on the face, just a wet sponge.

I do the same as Donna...dilute soap, pull forelack back into bridle path..and just use a wrung out wash cloth or a sponge on the face.

I use baby shampoo, though I never use very much. I think that it works very well on my horse's face. Sometimes I'll use a TINY bit of Infusium on his forelock. He is really good about his face being washed (most of the time, anyway ) and I've never had a problem with it getting into his eyes. I do try to stay clear of his eyes (obviously), and don't use a lot of soap, so it doesn't get really sudsy. I scrub it in with a jelly scrubber (using the softer side).

I don't usually wash the face, just give it a quick hose off if its sweaty or a wipe with the sponge when its gross. On the rare occasions I do wash the head, I use a very small amount of conditioner and shampoo in one to do the forelock and just use water on the face.

I just usually use plain water and a rag/sponge on most of the face, but I will use soap on the cheeks/jaw if it is really dirty, and carefully on any white. I pull the forelock back and wash it with the mane.

Baby wipes work well on the face just wring it out so that it is not dripping.

I have always just used water and a sponge on the face...if it's really dirty, some MILD baby shampoo (no more tears formula!)

i do basically the same as everyone stated... pull the forelock back and wash it with the mane,if I wash his face I use a sponge, and some mild shampoo. I mostly just focus on his blaze and getting that clean. I will have to try the baby wipes idea.
