War Paint for horses?

I'm gonna be an Indian for a Holloween parade at a show. Tigerlily from peter pan to be exact. I want to paint my horse with swat, but have some authentic markings. Do you know of a website i can find with stuff like that? I looked a little last night, but couldn't find any. Thanks.

Morning I dont know of any. But do a search for Native American symbols. They will vary by tribe. Navajo are quite interesting, I knew a few when I was younger.
I went as a indian about a million years ago, and I painted my horse with the coloring we use in our hair. Of course, she had a pink lightning bolt on her shoulder for a month.. lol But she was a paint, so I didnt care.. lol

You don't have to waste your SWAT...just go buy some Water based poster paint.
All you have to do is read the lable and make sure it washes off. WalMart even carries them in their school supplies section.

LOL, that's so kewl!!! Now I want to do that!!! Hmmm, although I'm not sure the neighbors would want horse droppings scattered all across the sidewalk and theirs yards... Even if I do claim it's fertilizer to help the grass grow.

LOL.. I had a blast. We lived in a very horsey area. My Dad went as an Ape from Planet of the Apes..lol He on his morgan stud and me bareback on my mare, we had alot of fun. Of course, it got hard after the first hour, to mount, dismount bareback. I started cheeting and using peoples fences, or dads stirup..lol

Yeah water based paint will work, and wont leave a stain.. lol

Run down to wal-mart.. grab that stuff that kids use to paint thier hair.. you can spray it on your hands if you want to make hand prints and stuff. I used to buy white and spray my black down the back for halloween. <grins> and she was a small dog perfect skunk size</grins>

You guys are so great, thanks Kar and Sandra for the websites, it's exactly what i wanted. What should i paint on myself? I'm gonna wear a Pocahantis (sp?) costume that i hope still fits, and i have a pink indian head dress thing, and hopefully will ride her in her rope halter, depending on how she's behaving, if not, i'll just take the nose band off her bridle. I think we have water paints for my little sisters, it'll come off of her with a little water? Thanks so much guys.

I would not paint anything on myself...just wear lots of pretty beads, shells and beaded earrings and head band if you have them.
To the best of my knowledge Indian women (depending on their tribe of course) did not wear face pain except on special ocassion such as their wedding day.
Here is some information you might find helpful though:

Quote:
The wedding apparel of a young Indian bride would probably be a knee-length skirt of deerskin and a band of wampum beads around her forehead. Her body might be bare from the waist up. She would probably wear fine stones or shell necklaces for decoration. Indians were not introduced to gold, silver and precious stones. Even glass was unknown to them. Indian women took great pride in their hair. It would be long sleek and shiny. In cold weather the young bride would wear deerskin leggings and moccasins and maybe a robe of turkey feathers. Fashion was not known to the Indian female. They did however paint their face in colors. White was a symbol of happiness and peace. They loved the color red and painted their face with circles of it. Both men and women wore tattoos. Indians were very private with affection especially romantic love. They never kissed in public, however marriages were strong and lasting.
