Post Wanted: Horse for free lease or Free to good home

i was wondering if anyone knew of or had a horse that they were willing to give to a good home or do a free lease. I am into the jumpers and my horse has been laid up for a year and a half because of a heel tendon injury. My dream is to do the florida circuit and in the mean time i need a horse that i can show and have fun with so i can get ring time experience. If anyone knows of someone that has a talented horse being a pasture ornament and wouldn't mind letting me love him/her for a show season i would truly appreciate it.
Thank you for your time
tabitha (18yr old avid horse lover)

Check the horse ads at equine.com and dreamhorse.com. I've been seeing people advertising horses free to a good home on there lately.

Have you had any luck in finding a horse? I ask because I'm doing research to get myself a horse as well and wanted to know where you had the most luck. Thanks!

If you're wanting a horse that is already trained, then it will probably be pretty hard to find, although I'm sure there are some out there. If you're experienced enough and willing to spend the time, then you could look into Thoroughbred adoption programs such as Re-Run which is based in Lexington, KY, but also has locations in Illinois, New York (I think), Arkansas, etc. You can check out their website (I believe it's www.rerun.org). The adoption fee is about $900, but they were having a special so that it was only $650 (I don't know if that's still going on). They're pretty up front about any injuries that the horse has had and tells you what kind of work it is suited for (whether it will be able to jump, just trail ride, etc.). Good luck in your search!

Just a quick note...don't click on the above highlighted link to get to Re-Run because the message acted as though the parenthesis and period were part of the address! Sorry!:-)

I have an arab mare who is virtually bombproof, kid broke and 100% sound, that i'd sell to someone who would take good care of her and have time to pay attention to her everyday. She's been 4-H shown for several years by a church youth grp, and is a registered mare, bt the preacher passed away and the family has left me with the mare, I have had a serious injury recently putting me on crutches for several months, making it hard to even take care and spend time with my own.
I don't have the papers on her, apparently they were lost after the owner passed away. But she's a pretty girl, I've founda home for her full sister, she has no vices. She's the one on the left.

I live in KY .. probably too far away from you all. 800$ is all i'm asking for her.

Someone is coming to look at her tomorrow, so maybe she'll get a good home, if not let me know if anyone is interested.

Sissy is on the left, not a very good pic, makes her head look big lol

You might also try checking with any riding schools or boarding stables in your area. They might now of something, might need help in exchange for riding, or a boarder may want to pick a partial lease on their horse to help offset expenses.

Where in FL are you located? Would you do an on-farm lease?

If you were asking me, I am in Texas, and ride western, but I would help someone out probably. I was robbed of a horsey childhood against my wishes and hate to see others go thru the parents saying no. I have a girl now that comes to ride here because her horse has arthritic hocks.
