I've tried it, sucks up all the sheded hair. We used a shop vac on my horse. He loves it. I'm sure there is a way to get them over the fear, just like anything. Just try "pretending" to vac them (without it on) and see how they react, if they don't freak then try turning it on. If they freak out, just keep it off and show them again, adn again. Let them smell it and etc, with it on now. And if they are doing well try vaccuming them.

We vacuum our show horses. They love it. The only problem they might have at first is the feel of the vacuum sucking at their skin. Start out doing it lightly at first until they get use to it. The noise may bother them, depending on if they are use to it or not. If they don't like the noise just put the vaccum on for awhile and then shut it off again. Get them use to the noise first before you attempt to vaccum them also.

For de-sensitising... As Emazing said, Its a matter of try try and try again! Once he's used to it off, Id try turning it on but a distance away from him, Their quite loud and you dont want to spook him. As he gradually gets used to it then start bringing it closer whilst its on so the sound increase isnt scarey. As for the sucking feeling, Probably wont bother them too much. I should think it feels quite nice, Like scratching an itch...

I LOVE THE VACCUMES they are so easy i would NOT be with out one it saves so much time and energy unless you like scrubing on your horse for hours to get rid of the hair as for getting them used to it emazing casper did what i would do then it just becomes a normal thing GOOD LUCK
